Why Dawki became one of Meghalaya's most requested trips
Dawki is famous for the Umngot River, especially in the dry months when the water becomes so clear that boats appear to float in air. That visual is not a social-media exaggeration. In the right season, it really does feel that clean. Because of that, many first-time Meghalaya travelers now place Dawki very high on their shortlist, sometimes even above larger waterfalls or city sightseeing.
The important thing to understand is that Dawki is not only one photo point. The wider circuit includes the main river side, the suspension bridge area, nearby Shnongpdeng, and sometimes a paired village route such as Mawlynnong. The day becomes rewarding when it is planned around road timing and season, not when it is treated like a quick stop squeezed into an already crowded itinerary.
